Hennessey released details of their upcoming supercar. It has massive power, coming from a twin-turbo version of the already powerful 8.4L V10 from the Dodge Viper.
The Venom GT should push out at least 1000 horsepower.
In a body weighing 1500 pounds lighter than the Bugatti Veyron, the Venom GT could be breaking the top speed record.
With either a six-speed manual or sequential gearbox, the Venom GT should run from 0 to 62 mph in less than 2.5 seconds. We could see the Venom GT in the concept stage in early 2009.

July 2, 2007 on 2:19 am | In Sports Cars | No Comments
In order to properly mark Ferrari’s sixtieth birthday, the Italian car maker has created and presented to the public its new Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Sessanta sports car. The exclusive model of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, which will be limited to only sixty units, is equipped with a standard F1 gearbox and a gorgeous electro-chromic panoramic roof panel with three degrees of opaqueness.

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Sessanta is available in two two-color stylings: Grigio scuro (Colori Classici ‘50-’60) (Nero with grigio scuro side line), and Rubino Micalizzato (Nero Daytona with Rubino Micalizzato side line) with some additional color accents on the vehicle’s underbody, front headlights and rear bumper details.

Additional elements of exclusivity also include new 19″ wheels, new radiator grille as well as chromium-plated rear grids with black chromed special exhaust pipes and, of course, “612 Sessanta” logo on the front wings. That’s outside.

Inside, the Sessanta features tons of luxurious stuff from the top brands most of us never heard about, and also such driver’s amenities as restyled instrument cluster, steering wheel with three-position Manettino and engine start button, TV tuner, cruise control, BOSE media system and a rear parking camera.

2008 MY Jaguar XKR Revealed
June 21, 2007 on 2:09 am | In Sports Cars | No Comments
Jaguar has finally revealed its face-lifted XKR performance coupe. Although not really different from the current Jaguar XKR, the updated model is nevertheless a small step forward for the struggling automaker.

Just like the current model, the updated Jaguar XKR will be equipped with the same 4.2-liter supercharged V8 capable of delivering up to 420 bhp of power and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. However, thanks to increased use of aluminum, the 2008 XKR will weigh only 1665 kg (3670 lbs), which is about 70 kg (154 lbs) less than the outgoing model.

As a result, the new Jaguar XKR will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in some 4.9 seconds with a top speed electronically limited at 155 mph. As to the looks, the car will feature huge 20-inch Senta alloys, heated front windscreen, high-end Surround Sound system and alloy pedals. All these are mentioned in the long list of standard equipment.

The new XKR will be available at a price of £70,097.
2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT Goes Topless
June 18, 2007 on 6:25 am | In Sports Cars | No Comments
Ford has just revealed its super-hot 2008 Ford Shelby GT Cabriolet. Available this August, the convertible’s production will be limited to just 2,300 units, giving the vehicle the delicate taste of exclusivity and justifying the higher price tag.

Although Ford’s press release consists of about 60 percent of PR blah-blah-blah-we-are-the-greatest stuff, there is also some technical information to be found too.
For example, the 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT convertible will be equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 engine modified with a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Package. The tuned engine delivers up to 319 hp and some 300 lb-ft of torque. Not that it will blow your head off, but I guess it will be just enough to have some fun on the open road.

The car will also feature a standard manual with a Hurst short-throw shifter and an optional five-speed automatic gearbox; a Ford Racing Handling Pack with special-tuned dampers; sports sway bars; a front strut-tower brace and a 3.55:1 ratio rear axle assembly.
